Quality Assurance (QA) Manager

An opportunity exists within the company for a QA Manager.

Reporting to the Head of R&D/HSEQ the QA Manager is responsible for managing the QA and Laboratory function in line with company and corporate policy, best industrial practice and the requirements of customers and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the position will include the maintenance of the quality management programme; to manage the customer complaints process, optimise product placement and the minimisation of quality related impacts on the business.

Other important elements include the development and improvement of quality assurance plans, the identification of critical control points & preventative measures and the validation and monitoring of quality related processes, procedures and practices throughout the organisation.

The successful candidate appointed will be expected to investigate new equipment and be involved in commissioning of same along with training of personnel where required.

He/she will also participate in projects and other initiatives including Lean Six Sigma on site.

The Person

This position requires a relevant third level science qualification ideally at level 8 degree level with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a fast paced manufacturing environment.

A good technical knowledge of synthetic fibre manufacturing and/or polymer processing is a distinct advantage. It is important the individual has a good understanding of basic mechanical/chemical processes and grounding in scientific principles.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential along with previous experience in working with and auditing quality management systems.

The successful candidate must be a good communicator with strong verbal, written and computer skills enabling them to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.

The person will be expected to keep up to date in their knowledge of market/customer requirements and development.

The ability to work under one’s own initiative together with good leadership, scheduling, budget and resource management skills is essential.

Candidates must also be prepared to travel as part of this job when required.
