1971 Bill Wellman reviews progress at development of original 5000T capacity facility.
1972 Wellman opens in Cavan Ireland employing 153 people.
1975 2nd spinning and finishing units installed as capacity increases.
1979 Continued expansion with installation of 3rd spinning unit and engineering workshop.
1985 Installed 3rd finishing unit and a new Raw Material drying system for spinning.
1988 Wellman achieves the Quality Management Standard – ISO 9001.
1990 Wellman acquire Recycling Facilities in France and The Netherlands.
1992 Introduction of 1st automated baling system.
1995 Expansion of bicomponent spinning facility.
2004 Expanded to 85,000 T capacity.
2009 Independent Life Cycle Analysis of Fibre making process undertaken.
2011 Wellman are the first fibre producer globally to achieve allergy standards component approval.

Wellman Today

Manufactures high quality polyester products from recycled post consumer PET bottles. We are Europe’s largest PET recycler, processing 1.6 billion post consumer PET bottles annually.
