Who We Are.
Wellman International Limited is Europe's largest producer of high quality polyester staple fibres. Based in County Meath, Republic of Ireland, Wellman has been a pioneering user of recycled raw materials since the plant was founded in the early 1970s.
At its foundation the fibre plant had the capacity to produce 5,000 tonnes of fibre each year. Since then the plant has been expanded to meet significant growth in the European markets for polyester in fibrefill and non-woven applications and today has capacity to produce more than 80,000 tonnes each year.
Wellman has used recycled post-consumer PET drinks bottles as a part of its raw material supply since the mid-1980s and has carried out its own recycling of post-consumer bottles at plants in the Netherlands since 1989 and in France since 1996.
We are confident that our development of new fibre products to meet new market needs, coupled with strong customer partnerships based on mutual respect, and the growing desire of European customers for materials made from recycled sources, provide strong foundations for continuing commercial success.
